Indications
Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Precautions :
Impaired liver or renal function, CHF, sick sinus syndrome, severe ventricular dysfunction hypertrophic cadiomyopathy, elderly, children, lactation.

Contra-indications :
Known hypersensitivity to dihydropyridines, Pregnancy

Overdose :
Active cardiac and respiratory monitoring , administration of vasopressors, Intravenous calcium gluconate.

How to Take :
Take each dose of amlodipine besylate tablets with a full glass of water. Do not stop taking amlodipine without first talking to your doctor.

Indications :
Hypertension, Heart Failure, Asymptomatic Left Ventricular Dysfunction

Side-Effects :
Fatigue, orthostatic effects, asthenia, diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness, cough, rash

Precautions :
Impaired renal function, hyperkalaemia, hypovolemia, collagen vascular disease, valvular stenosis, anesthesia

Contra-Indications :
Hypersensitivity to ACE inhibitors, bilateral renal artery stenosis, Pregnancy

Overdose :
Treatment would be intravenous infusion of normal saline solution

How to take :
Take each dose of enalapril maleate tablets with a full glass of water.Enalapril can be taken with or without food

Indications :
UTI, Acute Uncomplicated Cystitis in females, Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis, LRTI, Acute Sinusitis, SSTI, Bone and Joint Infections, Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infections, Infectious Diarrhea, Typhoid Fever (Enteric Fever)

Side-Effects :
Nausea , diarrhea, liver function tests abnormal, vomiting and rash

Precautions :
Epilepsy, CNS disorder, renal or hepatic dysfunction, G6PD deficiency, good hydration required myasthenia gravis, may impair ability to drive or operate machinery

Contra-Indications :
Children < 12 years, Pregnancy, lactation, avoid exposure to sunlight or sun lamps

Overdose :
stomach should be emptied by inducing vomiting or by gastric lavage. supportive treatment, Adequate hydration

How to take :
Do not take with dairy products such as milk . Take this medication for as many days as it has been prescribed

Indications :
Treatment of uncomplicated falciparum malaria in areas where there is evidence of chloroquine, pyrimethamine/sulfadoxine, mefloquine and quinine resistance

Side-Effects :
Dizziness, itching, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, headache, bodyache, diarrhoea, tinnitus and increased hair loss, macular rash, reduction in neutrophil counts and convulsions

Precautions :
Pregnancy and lactation. Avoid concomitant use of drugs which increase QT interval

Hemodialysis in severe cases

How to take :
Take metformin with a meal

Indications :
Urinary Tract Infections, Acute Otitis Media, Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis in Adults, Travelers' Diarrhea in Adults, Shigellosis, Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia

Side-Effects :
Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, anorexia) and allergic skin reactions (such as rash and urticaria).

Precautions :
G6PD deficiency, folate deficiency, hepatic and renal impairment, elder;y, porphyria, thyroid dydfunction, maintain adequate hydration

Contra-Indications :
Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic or renal insufficiency, infants< 2 months, Pregnancy, Lactation

Overdose :
Gastric lavage or emesis, intravenous fluids, Acidification of the urine, blood counts and blood chemistries

How to take :
Take co-trimoxazole with food.
